Dogs are FUN!

On two occasions, New Port Beach Hotel has proudly hosted the International Kennel Club's Obedience Trials with over 200 dogs competing each time. These were exciting events and we gained much experience in accommodating our K9 guests in a fun environment.

We are pleased to be able to accept your furry family member. We know that most people who travel regularly with their dogs already know these commonsense rules but, just as a reminder and for those of you who are new to traveling with a pet, the dog-gone rules are outlined below under "Petiquette".

Obedience Trials

Club Corre Caminos de Baja is the Baja California Chapter of the International Kennel Club, known in Mexico as CANOFILO. Where the AKC recognizes only about 140 breeds, the International Kennel Club recognizes over 300 breeds.

At the trials, the dogs must meet the physical standards for the breed and do not compete only against other dogs in same breed but to other dogs within a category.

Two Paws PETIQUETTE AT NEW PORT BEACH HOTEL Two Paws

Paw There is a $25.00 Pet Fee per dog per stay to a MAXIMUM OF TWO (2) DOGS PER ROOM to cover extra expenses the hotel incurs by accepting your pet. We also require an open credit card voucher on account in the unlikely event of damages.
Paw From Miss Manners' Guide for the Turn-of-the-Millennium: "One does not bring along uninvited friends when making visits. One does not even request to be allowed to do so. What one does... say, 'No, I'm sorry, I can't stay with you because I'll be traveling with my dog,' and then fall silent, so that the prospective host may, if he wishes, reply, 'Oh, for heaven's sake, that's no problem. Bring them along.'
To facilitate room assignment prior to check in, when making reservations online, please note you are bringing your pet(s) in the comments section or tell the Reservationist if reserving by phone.
Paw The first floor of the south wing is designated as our Dog Floor. Rooms are floored with Mexican Saltillo Tile rather than carpeted.
Paw Dogs are not allowed on all floors for several reasons: 1) The Dog Floor is fumigated on a weekly basis; 2) Maids assigned to this floor understand and like dogs; 3) Guests with allergies and children with asthma are purposely assigned rooms far from the dog floor. As a courtesy to other guests, please do not attempt to circumvent this point.
Paw Please inform the Front Desk Clerk that you have your dog with you so your room may be assigned correctly rather than forcing us to move you to another floor or wing after settling in.
Paw Dogs are not allowed in the Pool/Jacuzzi or Pool Area, Restaurant, Central Gardens & Lawns, Volleyball Court or Kid’s Playground for obvious health reasons.
Paw Bring a crate; it’s his home away from home.
Paw Do not leave dog alone in the room uncrated. To help keep her occupied and comfortable when alone, provide an assortment of toys and leave the TV on to give her a sense of companionship.
Paw If your dog is uncrated and alone, Housekeeping will NOT enter to clean your room!
Paw Bothering other guests /excessive barking is grounds for expulsion with no right to any refund whatsoever and may even result in additional charges.
Paw Please do not allow dogs on the furniture or beds.
Paw Keep pets leashed at all times while outside your room.
